Beyond the Frame: Creative and Critical Thinking Study Day
Friday 14 November 2014, 11 – 3pm At Manchester Art Gallery and Manchester School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University
A FREE study day for young people aged 16 – 20:
- Work with University lecturers
- Hear talks from expert curators and museum professionals
- Explore Manchester Art Gallery’s collections
- Develop critical and creative thinking skills
- Learn about BA(Hons) courses in Art History and Art History and Curating at Manchester Metropolitan University and take part in taster sessions
- Think about careers in museums and art galleries
Particularly useful for those studying A levels in History, Art, Sociology, English Literature, Politics, Photography and Media.
Morning Session at Manchester School of Art (10.30am – 12.45pm) Highlights tour of Manchester School of Art Curatorial Tour of Holden Gallery, By Zoe Watson, Curatorial Assistant
Critical and Creative Workshop 1 led by Art History and Curating lecturers using the contemporary art exhibition on display at the Holden Gallery
Introduction to Art History and Art History and Curating Courses.
Lunch Break – lunch provided (1.15pm –walk from Manchester School of Art to Manchester Art Gallery– guided)
Afternoon Session at Manchester School Art Gallery (1.30pm – 3.30pm)
Critical and Creative Workshop 1 led by Art History lecturers using Manchester Art Gallery’s collections.
Curatorial tour of exhibition displays by Rebecca Milner, Curator: Collections Access at Manchester Art Gallery.
