There’s been a lot of buzz (especially on Twitter) about the MMU BA Fashion and BA TiP finalists this week as they took to London Graduate Fashion Week. A colleague in CAH and I had the privilege of front row seats at the forthcoming graduates’s matinee catwalk show a fortnight ago. This is the first year that I have taught some of the final year students showing collections in the show and they far exceeded my expectations. The collections were diverse, eclectic and extremely creative. Highlights included jelly shoes, pom poms (Melissa Lawrence), crocs and socks, dogs on skirts (Lucy Cowan) and some beautifully crafted coats (Rebecca Howarth’s particularly caught my eye). Very proud of our students! A full list of the designers and images of their collections can be found here: http://degreeshow.mmu.ac.uk/2013/courses/fashion/
On this note, the final degree shows are coming together in the School of Art . Undoubtedly, a lot of white paint, blood, sweat and tears have gone into the preparation for the forthcoming Private View opening next Friday. There’s been an air of tension in the Holden Gallery this week as the BA Interactive Art finalists were examined. Our CAH students are exhibiting too – even on a very hot and sunny Friday I spotted a CAH student working away today in the room next door to our office! Looking forward to the resulting exhibition!
Roll on next Friday…!
